Sailing for success

The British Olympic sailing team is looking to capitalise on its position as ‘the country’s best hope for Olympic gold’, with a PR push ahead of the Beijing games next year.

The Royal Yachting Association has brought in Pitch PR to raise public awareness of Skandia Team GBR in the run-up to Beijing.

The sailing team has won a total of ten medals at the previous two summer Olympics, making it Britain’s most successful squad.

Pitch MD Henry Chappell, who heads the account, said that the association wanted increased recognition of its success and a greater awareness of sailing in the media.

Medal winners from previous Olympics include Ben Ainslie, Shirley Robertson and Iain Percy – all of whom are expected to be in next year’s squad.
