St Mungo's boosts campaigning role with new staff

Homelessness charity St Mungo's is to step up its campaigning following the appointment of a new campaigns and communications manager.

Marie Benton, previously communications manager at The Downs Syndrome Association, will lead a team of five. She effectively replaces Sara Hazzard, who stepped down last August to become communications and marketing manager at Islington Council.

Benton reports to executive director of communications, fundraising and marketing Tanya English and joins newly recruited PA officer Chloe Stables (PRWeek, 2 February).

‘St Mungo's hasn't had a large enough team before to really make its voice heard,' said Benton. ‘With the new appointments, it is hoping to change this.'

Benton will initially focus on lobbying the Government to prioritise consistent funding for work and learning services for homeless people.
