Africa charity win for comms work

The Centre for Francophone African Development was this month one of five London charities and community organisations to be recognised for transforming their approach to comms.

The organisation, which works to alleviate poverty in French-speaking African countries, was victorious at the second biannual City Bridge Trust/ Media Trust Better Communications Awards 2007. It won the Better Planning and Organisation of Comms Activities award for its media relations efforts in the past year.

Among the other winners was Age Concern Havering, which won the Better Media Coverage gong for developing alliances with local journalists.

The Essex based organisation for the elderly was praised for its planning and ‘persistence' in publicising the issues facing old folk and its day care services.
