Borkowski and Harvard could lose out as Vodafone rejigs

Vodafone looks poised to ditch Borkowski PR and Harvard PR amid a consumer and tech agency rethink.

Vodafone slashed ten comms jobs last year as part of a cost-cutting exercise. It also merged its group, brand and UK PR functions under head of group media relations Bobby Leach (PRWeek, 18 May 2006).

Vodafone has now put its enterprise and technology and consumer accounts out to pitch. Borkowski has held the consumer account for more than five years, and Harvard has maintained a tenure of similar length.

‘In terms of the brief, we are looking at industry best practice,' said Vodafone head of media relations, strategy and planning Anna Cloke.

Vodafone is expected to confirm its appointments within the next two weeks. It is understood that the brief will change and become more project-based than retained.

Vodafone is rumoured to be one of the firms contending for the network rights to Apple's iPhone. Borkowski declined to comment and Harvard's management was unavailable for comment.
