How many stories on butlers and National Trust membership are there in the first issue of Country House?
None! We launched this magazine for affluent 30 to 55-year-old Londoners who have a strong interest in the country, but also in cutting edge London life. They could own a second home, or be thinking of buying one, or they might be considering relocating to the countryside. One thing they definitely are not is twee!
Talk us through some of the sections.
The front has a social page, shopping pages, an events spread, fashion ideas and columnists. We also cover the arts, sport, interiors, design, gardens and food. We like looking at small producers producing exciting products.
What is coming out in the April issue?
We’ve interviewed Mulberry’s former creative director Roger Saul, who is now an organic farmer, and there’s a feature on the Cass Sculpture Foundation at Goodwood Park. We do a seven-page county focus every month. Last month we did Gloucester to tie in with the Cheltenham Festival and this month we’re looking at Dorset. Thomasina Myers has also done some recipes for us.
What do want to hear about?
The idea is to find things in the countryside that have links and similarities with things in London – country things with a London twist. Tell us about inspirational countryside dwellers and experts in British excellence. Let us know about events too, but make sure they are high end.
Best way to get in touch?
Email. Pictures are good, but please send low-res ones to start with.
Where can people get hold of the mag?
Every month 75,000 copies will be delivered to AB homes in London Places like Battersea, Belgravia, Chelsea, Kensington, and Notting Hill. It is also available via subscription and through leading country estate agents nationwide.
