Letter - Freesheets have ABCs and reader profiles

Now, I realise that opinion is opinion and Ian Monk is fully entitled to his point of view about the value of PR in free newspapers ('Freesheets clash with the green agenda', 23 February).

However, I wish so-called experts would get their facts correct.

London's evening freesheets don't 'just have print runs' - they are audited by the ABC.

Likewise, the statement that free papers are just handed out to everyone and, by implication, have inferior reader profiles, is nonsense.

At Metro we have the highest proportion of young upmarket readers of all national papers, except the FT.

You simply cannot get more basic than this.
