Ofcom opens doors to 'male lesbians'

Applicants for Ofcom's vacant director of comms role should expect to be bamboozled by the public sector Diversity Monitoring Form.

For those unfamiliar with public sector recruitment protocol, the form ensures candidates from a variety of backgrounds have the opportunity to join a public funded body's staff.

The current one is what cricket fans might call a 'ripper', allowing candidates, if they so wish, to declare themselves a 'male lesbian'. Or indeed a 'female gay man'.

The form goes on to distinguish between 'heterosexual' and 'straight', and 'gay woman' and 'lesbian'.

Finally, it gives candidates the option to declare themselves bisexual, gay or heterosexual - or to plump for the box marked 'other'.

Beguiling as the opportunity may be, Diary suggests it could be easier to simply tick the 'prefer not to say' box.
