There is more to CSR than community work

While it's reassuring to see PRWeek devote more coverage in recent months to CSR, contributors should abandon writing as though 'CSR' and 'community involvement' are interchangeable phrases.

They are not. It's like saying 'Manchester United' equals 'the Premiership'.

Community involvement does not, by itself, constitute a CSR strategy.

Whether you call it corporate social responsibility, responsible business or just good business, it's an agenda that involves a long list of stakeholders with a keen interest in how responsibly an organisation is run.
