Ex-Labour aide in Chambers move

The British Chambers of Commerce has appointed Nick Maxwell, a former aide to Labour MP John Grogan, to be its top lobbyist.

Maxwell replaces Lewis Sidnick who quit as head of parliamentary affairs last year (PRWeek, 14 July 2006).

He takes the title of parliamentary officer, reporting to head of policy Natalie Evans.

Maxwell was previously a senior researcher for Grogan, who is MP for Selby and former comms co-ordinator at Leeds City Council.

Grogan is drafting a parliamentary motion that will urge MPs and public bodies to boycott agencies that are not members of the Association of Professional Political Consultants (PRWeek, 23 February).
