Julian Samways, who left Schroeders two years ago and has since worked in hedge funds, has more than 20 years of City marketing and comms experience. He will aid Redleaf's work in the hedge fund sector.
Redleaf said Samways will be ‘responsible for advising senior executives on the preparation and implementation of long-term comms strategy both from a corporate and marketing perspective'.
Samways said: ‘The City PR sector is growing all the time and it seemed the right time to reconnect with the industry. I'll be looking at larger companies with complex activity and trying to build Redleaf's growth and momentum.'
Samways is also a former director of Schroeder Property Investment Management, where he had responsibility for global corporate comms and marketing.
He was marketing director at Schroeders' institutional business from 1995 to 2000 before taking the strategic comms role. He was previously an investment manager at James Capel Fund Managers, later HSBC Asset Management.
Samways entered the City comms sphere at International Thomson Organisation, where he held his first marketing role.
At Redleaf he reports to founder Emma Kane.
