The Newcastle upon Tyne-based company appointed Haslimann Taylor after a three-way pitch. The agency will seek to increase DermaSalve's product distribution base via coverage in trade media, while also targeting consumers.
Haslimann Taylor, which is based in the West Midlands, is believed to have seen off a London agency and one from Bournemouth in a pitch held at the Bournemouth offices of Ceuta Healthcare, which distributes DermaSalve's products.
The agency has put a four-strong team on the account, which is headed by account director Richard Morris. He reports to DermaSalve sales and marketing director Neil Wilson.
DermaSalve was formed in 2003 and floated on AIM via a reverse takeover 14 months ago.
In a separate development, Haslimann Taylor is also advising ScriptSwitch, an independent, Coventry-based company that has developed software for prescribers aimed at ‘increasing clinical excellence and helping save NHS money'.
