Wood leaves Four to be 'own boss'

Former Joe Public Relations MD Matt Wood has left his Four Communications consumer PR role after just seven months.

Wood – who has worked for four different agencies since 2005 – cited a desire to ‘be his own boss’, as well as the success of his wife Laura’s agency Golden Goose PR, as reasons for his exit.

‘It has been very different for me since Joe Public, not being my own boss, and I would rather give any new business to Laura,’ he told PRWeek.

He plans to freelance as a consultant and headhunter.

Wood has worked at Seventy Seven PR, Firefly Communications (interim basis) and Switch Communications (a start-up he co-founded) since 2005. Four has no plans to replace him.
