Let's Meet at - Sophie's Steakhouse & Bar

Reviewed by Johnno Spence, MD of Johnno Spence Consulting.

Walking into Sophie's Steakhouse & Bar you immediately notice the imaginative decor. The main restaurant mirrors the great steakhouses of Chicago with its large space of bare brick walls, naked bulbs and simple wooden tables surrounded by wooden chairs and red leather banquettes. One unique characteristic is the old-fashioned train luggage- carriers that have been strategically placed around the restaurant above each banquette.

There's no booking in Sophie's but this gives you a chance to sit in the bar to mull over your menu and chat to your client before being escorted to your table by a friendly member of staff. Each day there is a special cocktail created by a member of staff that always proves popular with customers. The wine list is reasonably priced, and there is plenty of choice of soft drinks.

Sophie's signature dishes include steaks that are sourced from Scotland and Northern Ireland, each one served with either bearnaise or the home-made 'secret recipe' steak sauce.

If you are not a meat-lover, going to Sophie's should not put you off as there is a good selection of vegetarian, fish and poultry dishes -and new dishes are added each season.
