Reynolds-MacKenzie hires ex-B-M director

Former Burson-Marsteller director Monica Shuman has resurfaced at healthcare media relations specialist Reynolds-MacKenzie.

Shuman is reunited with former B-M colleagues Eva Reynolds and Alison MacKenzie. She has taken up the role of associate director and is leading work on Amgen (Mimpara and SureClick) and Pfizer (oncology) business.

Shuman is the most senior appointment made by Reynolds-MacKenzie since the duo launched their outfit, based in London's Shaftesbury Avenue, just over two years ago. Shuman left B-M at the beginning of August (PRWeek, 11 Aug), where her clients included Pfizer and Bristol-Myers Squibb.

Before B-M, where she worked for nearly three years, Shuman was at Ketchum for four years. She also worked for the Shire Health Group.

She has worked across numerous therapeutic areas, but has specialised in cancer, vaccines and mental health, also advising clients including GlaxoSmithKline and Roche. Reynolds said Shuman's arrival at the agency, which has nine staff, ‘marks the first of a number of hires being negotiated'.

Other agency clients include Merck Sharp & Dohme (undisclosed business).

Reynolds and MacKenzie both had stints at B-M before launching their agency. Other recent exits from B-M's health team have also taken new agency roles: director Ellen Sarewitz is now at Ash Communications Healthcare (PRWeek, 27 Oct).
