Hitachi Data Systems plans EMEA-wide agency hire

Hitachi Data Systems is in talks with agencies to provide corporate and tech PR support across the EMEA region.

The UK-led account is currently handled by two-year incumbent Blanc & Otus.

Blanc & Otus managing director Simon Glazer said he declined to repitch for the account, which is believed to entail on-the-ground comms support in the UK and co-ordination of local agencies across Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

The data-storage arm of Japanese electronics manufacturer Hitachi is looking to bring in a new agency by the start of December, reporting to EMEA head of PR Helen Calthrop-Owen.

In May, Hitachi Data Systems UK hit the headlines after it was sued for £500,000 by a woman who alleged she had been demoted at the company following cosmetic surgery to her face and breasts.
