PopCap Games seeks UK agency for Euro campaign

PopCap Games, a well-known maker of so-called ‘casual' computer games such as Chuzzle, is planning to recruit a UK agency for the first time.

Seattle-based PopCap develops games that can be downloaded to PCs, MP3 players, mobile phones and game consoles, as well as being free to play online.

‘We are looking at UK-based agencies with consumer or consumer-tech experience that have a European presence,' said ­newly appointed European PR director Cathy Orr. She is yet to draw up a shortlist.

Orr joined PopCap three weeks ago from Hill & Knowlton Ireland, where she ran its consumer team as associate director.

‘PopCap is looking to develop a European presence for the first time, after enjoying growth in the US - hence my appointment and the fact we are looking for an agency,' Orr told PRWeek.

She has been replaced at Hill & Knowlton Ireland by Malachi Quinn, who joined the agency this Wednesday as account director from McConnells Group.

PopCap's biggest gaming success, Bejewelled, is available on more than 50 million mobile phones in the US.
