Comms first for Tory think-tank

Centre-right think-tank Policy Exchange, which is known for its close ties to Tory leader David Cameron, has recruited its first comms director.

Steven King assumed the role at the 14-strong group last week, joining from the Independent Schools Council, where he was head of press.

Policy Exchange is to issue a report next month called ‘2056', examining the arrangements young people today need to make for their retirement. It will follow this with a study on the UK's economic competitiveness.

‘Policy Exchange has in a short time established itself as the leading centre-right think-tank, but wants more ideas translated into policy commitments,' said King.

King joined the ISC 14 months ago, and was previously political adviser to First Minister of Northern Ireland David Trimble.

Policy Exchange was established more than three years ago by director Nicholas Boles and MPs Michael Gove and Francis Maude.
