Vanessa Orr is to join Finsbury in November, while Financial Dynamics V-P Sarah McLeod starts at Hogarth next month.
‘It is difficult to find talent outside the City, so there is some lateral movement,' said Hogarth managing partner John Olsen. He added: ‘Vanessa leaving and Sarah joining are not linked.'
McLeod joins in a role slightly broader than her FD position, where she has focused on life sciences. Part of her Hogarth brief is to grow its activity in the renewable energy market - the agency already works for Ceramic Fuel Cells and PolyFuel (PRWeek, 16 June).
Orr's responsibilities at Finsbury will be decided closer to her joining date. Formerly an employee of Tulchan Communications, she has been at Hogarth for three years.
The employee merry-go-round comes as a number of City agency heads tell PRWeek that attempts to recruit good staff are becoming increasingly hard-fought.
One agency chief (not from the agencies involved in this week's moves), said mid- to high-level executives were able to command very good salaries simply because of the volume of agencies currently recruiting.
Such a trend has been visible in other PR sectors, particularly healthcare, over the past couple of years.
