Albatross stunt planned by RSPB

The RSPB is planning a publicity stunt on London's South Bank next Wednesday as part of its Save the Albatross campaign.

Full-service agency Barradale Leagas Arnold Campbell (BLAC) has been running an advertising campaign on London's Underground network over the past month, and is now preparing PR activity.

RSPB London manager Paul Forecast said the event, details of which remain under wraps, would kick off an eight-week PR drive, which was being supported by a media partnership with London daily the Evening Standard.

The charity began hunting agency support earlier in the year after claiming the giant birds - considered an omen of bad luck by sailors if killed - were being wiped out by ‘long-line' fishing (PRWeek, 3 February).

The RSPB has previously used The Red Consultancy to carry out stunts and events.
