The two trusts - neither of which currently has agency support - have put out a tender for expressions of interest following a proposal by their management boards last month to merge the three bodies.
The move is intended to bring research and teaching closer to the provision of care.
The proposal will require a public and patient consultation programme, likely to take place next year.
‘We are still identifying what resources we will need. The brief may include work handed out on a project basis or a retainer contract to provide continual support to existing resources,' said Hammersmith Trust head of comms Nick Samuels.
