Pawnbroker picks GS for auction site

Pawnbroker chain Cash Converters has appointed its first PR agency as it enters the online auction arena to compete with firms such as eBay and Amazon.

The retailer, which operates 500 outlets worldwide including 116 in the UK, has picked Golley Slater to raise awareness of the website. The chain itself has operated since 1984.

Golley Slater PR director Nick Brown said the site would enable Cash Converters to reach people more affluent than its traditional customer base. ‘From August we will be targeting the red-tops and women's magazines, eventually moving to the broadsheets,' he added.
