Edelman ditched

The National Endowment for Science, Technology and the Arts (Nesta) has ended its relationship with Edelman and taken its public affairs in-house.

Its move follows the appointment of Britain in Europe campaign director Lucy Powell as head of media and PA. It has emerged she joined the government body in March. Edelman was hired last August.

Nesta executive director of corporate comms Angela Salt has merged the comms and PA teams, and is recruiting for a head of corporate comms to boost the organisation's brand, and for a media and PA manager who will report to Powell.

Salt, who joined last month from the Electoral Commission, said Nesta's strategy was to ‘focus on people, money and policy' – nurturing skills, providing finance and fostering the right policy climate for British innovation to flourish.

Created in 1998, Nesta supports innovations such as a ‘micro-pump' that is worn like a plaster by diabetics to administer insulin.
