Microsoft recruits for press function

Microsoft is recruiting for a brace of PROs - including a head of press - for its UK media centre.

The company's media relations unit is currently being run by freelancers and retained agency Inferno Communications, after the recent exits of three PR staff.

The recruitment drive follows the departures of Demelza Fryer-Saxby, who left to join Yell.com (PRWeek, 2 June); Mui Luc, who has joined business intelligence software firm SAS UK; and Mumtaz Beck, who has left to go travelling.

Inferno director James Tutt is currently in charge of press operations.

Microsoft UK head of PR Ali Campbell, working alongside Inferno MD Grant Currie, is in charge of the recruitment process. The other position being recruited for is that of PR executive.

Inferno employees have provided support to Microsoft PR staff for the past three years.
