Motor body hires Perry for lobbying

The Retail Motor Industry Federation has appointed Josephine Perry as its first head of PA as it steps up its lobbying and campaigning.

She oversees a four-strong policy team and reports to the RMIF’s chief executive Matthew Carrington, former Conservative MP for Hammersmith and Fulham.

RMIF director of sales and marketing Gary Elliott said the organisation was ‘reinventing itself in an industry that has changed tremendously in the past five years’. He added that it was intensifying its campaigning on tax, quality and standards, skills and training and block exemption, the laws that determine how vehicles are sold.
Perry joins from exam board Edexcel, where she was PA manager for just over a year. Previously, she worked in the external relations team at Royal Mail and was an account manager at Weber Shandwick Public Affairs.

The RMIF’s membership includes forecourt retailers, car dealers and repairs firms.
