Rentokil dissolves corporate comms function

Rentokil Initial, the FTSE-100 pest control to security group, has axed its 15-strong corporate comms team as part of a top-level shake-up.

In a statement, Rentokil said: ‘Following a review of group comms it was decided to close the corporate function of group internal and external comms. Responsibilities for these functions has been devolved to the individual businesses.'

The business groups comprise: Textiles and Washrooms; Pest Control; Tropical Plants; Electronic Security; City Link; Facilities Services; and Asia-Pacific. Some of the 15 comms staff are understood to have been redeployed by the business units. But Rentokil would not say how many have been made redundant.

Lisa Williams remains head of investor relations and Rentokil continues to retain Brunswick as its corporate and financial comms agency.

The move comes three months after Rentokil group director of corporate affairs Charles Grimaldi was ousted (PRWeek, 24 February). The post is currently under review.
