GNN's Biye takes top role at ombudsman’s office

The Office of the Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman has selected a new head of comms to oversee its merged PR and strategy departments.

Government News Network (GNN) London senior information officer Kike Biye takes up the post in two weeks' time, reporting to director of strategy and comms Philip Aylett (PRWeek, 3 February).

She will manage a two-strong team covering internal and external comms, publications and stakeholder relations, effectively replacing Valerie McBurney, who left last autumn.

At the regional government news handling service, Biye's clients include the Home Office, the Department for Education and Skills, and the Cabinet Office.

'Biye has a broad range of experience in handling accounts from different government departments which makes her a good candidate for this office,' said Aylett, who also previously worked at GNN.

The  ombudsman's office handles independent complaints about government departments, public bodies and the NHS.

The comms team operates under the direction of ombudsman Ann Abraham.
