Diary: Sunday Times list finds six of the best

Snigger ye not, it's official: PR is a caring profession. No fewer than six agencies have made it into The Sunday Times 100 Best Small Companies To Work For 2006 list.

With benefits including champagne at birthdays, extra days off for wellbeing and cashback for alternative health treatments, Firefly, Consolidated, Lansons and Lexis were among the highest ranking.

Trimedia Communications, in 59th spot, even ensures that staff do not miss out on balmy summer afternoons, with workers clocking off at 2pm every Friday in August. What a life.

Heading the industry's crop of firms is integrated marketing agency Haygarth at number eight - although MD Sophie Daranyi tells us the paper's accompanying picture of two gregarious male staff has triggered much teasing. Says Daranyi: 'It was from our Christmas fancy dress party - they were doing the YMCA. I promise we don't dress like that all the time.'

Of course, Sophie.
