Beattie raids Nexus to build healthcare team

Beattie Communications has poached Sophie Taylor-Roberts from Nexus Communications as it builds its nascent healthcare practice on the back of fresh assignments from clients including GlaxoSmithKline.

Taylor-Roberts will take on the role of senior account director when she joins on 3 April. She reports to Nigel Breakwell, the former Edelman joint CEO who is now four months into his position as Beattie's first healthcare director.

Taylor-Roberts leaves Nexus on 23 March after just over three and a half years with the agency. She works for clients such as consumer health body the Proprietary Association of Great Britain and Sheffield-based medical products company B Braun.

She had previously spent just over a year at GCI Healthcare. Prior to that she worked for Euro PR Group.

Beattie has also hired Christine Mawsen as a consultant. She joins after freelancing for Edelman's healthcare division.

Taylor-Roberts is the third transfer from Nexus to Beattie in the past four months. The latter has also secured the services of Susan McMartin and Olivia Holcroft, now account director and senior account executive, respectively, in its consumer/food team.

Beattie's principal pharma client is GSK for which it promotes malaria treatment Malarone in the UK.

It also handles UK work for GSK in the hepatitis B area, a remit that has just been extended to include 'assisting on media work for a pan-European conference happening later this year'.
