Welch steps down as MAM chief exec

Morgan Allen Moore chief executive Jo Welch has resigned after eight years, leaving the PA consultancy searching for a replacement.

Vice-chairman Richard Moore said Welch was 'leaving for personal reasons' and would not join another lobbying firm. Moore and chairman Steve Morgan will cover her responsibilities until a replacement is found, while Welch will retain her seat on the board of directors.

Her departure follows the hire last month of Darren Caplan in the newly created role of head of the London office. He worked previously at planning specialist PPS Group as account director.

Moore stressed that Caplan's arrival and Welch's exit were unrelated.

As well as London, MAM has offices in Tunbridge Wells and Cardiff, billing itself as 'Wales's leading public affairs provider'. It has a particularly strong portfolio of health sector clients, such as Johnson & Johnson and Merck, Sharpe and Dohme.
