Birmingham plans Bull Ring publicity

Birmingham City Council is on the hunt for an agency to promote its town centre retail markets.

The Bull Ring markets have benefited from a multi-million-pound facelift, completed in 2003.  The contract will last for two years with the option of a one-year extension. The incumbent agency is Birmingham-based Rave Communications.

'Objectives are to increase footfall and raise the profile of retail offerings,' said council corporate media manager Audrey Geber.
The Bull Ring markets comprise indoor fish and meat stalls, a 'rag' section and fruit and vegetable vendors. The market dates back to the Middle Ages.

Initially a cattle and food market, Bull Ring developed into the main commercial district of Birmingham as the town grew into a modern industrial city.
