St James's Place enlists O’Rafferty

Financial services intermediary St James’s Place has poached Zurich Financial Services head of UK sponsorship Sarah O’Rafferty.

She joined the wealth management company earlier this month as its first head of PR, reporting to St James's Place marketing director Robin Chatterton.

Although she does not yet have a dedicated team, O'Rafferty will be responsible for national and regional media relations.

Last week St James's Place, which is 60 per cent owned by HBOS, said new business sales for the fourth quarter rose 39 per cent on the previous year, helped by a 41 per cent rise in pension sales.

Pension sales were aided by the introduction of a raft of new pension rules in April 2005.
