T Rowe nets CDR’s McDonald

Nasdaq-quoted global investment house T Rowe Price has poached Citigate Dewe Rogerson head of investment James McDonald to launch a review of global comms.

McDonald, who joined in the new position of head of international PR and marketing last month, told PRWeek he wanted to 'enhance the T Rowe brand outside the US'.

'T Rowe is the second largest asset management firm in Denmark, for example, but not nearly so well known in Sweden,' McDonald said. 'I will be devising bespoke strategies for individual countries.'

McDonald added that he would not review T Rowe's five-year UK relationship with Gavin Anderson, but would not rule out tendering for comms support in other countries.

'Canada and the Baltic states are areas of great interest to us at the moment, and further external comms support might be an option further down the line as we develop new products,' he explained.
T Rowe Price has a worldwide portfolio of over £146bn, half of which comes from institutional investors.
