Firefly lures Stockwell to lead consumer charge

Ex-Cohn & Wolfe director Brandon Stockwell has re-emerged as head of consumer at Firefly Communications.

Stockwell spent six years at C&W before leaving this summer (PRWeek, 24 June).

He started at Firefly this week and has been handed the task of building a 'pure consumer brand division' at the agency, best known in the consumer technology arena with clients such as Motorola and Casio.

At C&W, Stockwell worked for clients including The AirMiles Travel Company, Coca-Cola, Diageo and Travelodge. He was previously at Biss Lancaster.

Firefly's top consumer job had been vacant since the exit of Ian Withington, the former Jackie Cooper PR man brought in to launch Firefly into the consumer brands arena 18 months ago (PRWeek, 21 May 2004).

Withington left after less than a year to join Hill & Knowlton (PRWeek, 15 April). Ex-Joe Public Relations chief Matt Wood was interim consumer head at Firefly over the summer. He has since launched his own outfit, Switch Communications.

Firefly CEO Claire Walker, to whom Stockwell reports, said: 'We looked long and hard for the right personality and skills to fill this role.'
