Sky hires internal comms manager

BSkyB has poached Vodafone head of business comms Philomena McManus as it prepares staff for possible job losses as part of its ongoing ‘effectiveness review’, driven by chief executive James Murdoch.

McManus, who joined Vodafone in 2001 as global head of internal marketing in the company's global products and services division, will join Sky as head of group internal comms on 5 December.

She replaces Hamish Haines, who quit BSkyB in June to set up his own consultancy.

McManus will report to newly installed group director of comms Matthew Anderson, the ex-Ogilvy PR chief for Asia-Pacific who
recently replaced Julian Eccles in the broadcaster's top comms job.
