Sanofi-Aventis to overhaul internal comms

Sanofi-Aventis has recruited former Alliance Pharmacy comms manager Stuart Lawton-Davies as head of internal comms as it reviews how it communicates with its UK staff.

Lawton-Davies has joined after two and a half years as comms manager at Alliance, the UK's third-largest retail pharmacy chain. He reports to UK communications director Cressida Ward.

Ward said that the firm, formed from last year's merger of Aventis with Sanofi-Synthelabo, needed someone to fill a 'strategic' internal comms position as the new company's structure bedded in.

'We are reviewing what we are doing,' she said. 'Stuart's focus will be on developing and implementing internal comms initiatives.' She declined to elaborate.

Separately Sanofi-Aventis is on the verge of filling the post of former head of brand policy and public affairs Anna Sörman, who is now UK director of corporate affairs at Amgen (PRWeek, 16 September).
Her replacement will be given the title of head of external affairs and will report to Ward.
