Wales tourism to target Midlands

Tourism Partnership North Wales has called in October Communications North Wales to attract more visitors from the North-West and the West Midlands.

Taking over from incumbent agency Outwrite Public Relations, October will target local, regional and trade press, and manage press trips. The campaign aims to build on traditional markets such as coach trips and adventure tourism and to expand into the luxury short break arena.

Popular adventure tourism includes mountaineering, quad biking, power kiting, kayaking and canoeing, said October account manager Ruby Williams, who leads the account.

'North Wales is where people go for short breaks and some people come here every weekend. We have a huge influx of people from the North-West and the West Midlands and plan to build on these visitor numbers.'

Williams will liaise with the Wales Tourist Board.
