'As a rule, hiring someone solely to handle PR sales is fraught with danger. But in Paul we found someone who came in and had our eyes on stalks within days.
'We took him on in 2002 and he spent a year revolutionising our approach to drumming up new business. We usually associate creativity with pitching stories or writing materials, but he seemed to dream up a unique line of attack for every call he made. When our sector was at a low ebb, he dug his heels in and got us into pitch scenarios we had never dreamed of.
