Chime announces jump in PR profits

Operating profit at the PR businesses of marcoms group Chime Communications leapt by more than 25 per cent in the first six months of this year, it said this week.

The group, which owns Bell Pottinger and Good Relations, said operating profit for its PR businesses rose by 29 per cent from £2.6m in the six months to 30 June 2004 to £3.4m in the six months to June 2005.

Chime said PR profits were buoyed by 'strong progress' at government and international PR division Bell Pottinger Sans Frontieres. It added that there were 'improved performances from Bell Pottinger Corporate & Financial, Resonate, Insight, Rare Corporate Design, Bell Pottinger USA and German firm MMK.

At group level Chime reported a slight drop in pre-tax profit on continuing operations from £3.08m in the first six months of 2004, to £3.03 in the first six months of this year.
