Contact Book Update

The Guardian will have a new daily science page as part of next week's relaunch in 'Berliner' format - a size between tabloid and broadsheet. There will also be a new G3 supplement, Technology Guardian, on Thursdays, with the Friday Review section renamed Film and Music. The paper's editor is Alan Rusbridger.

Elizabeth Blackshire has been made deputy editor of Personal Journal, the lifestyle supplement of The Wall Street Journal Europe. Formerly a news editor on the paper's global news desk, she will be based in Brussels and replaces William Westbrook. Blackshire reports to the section's editor, Dagmar Aalund.

Graham Watts has been promoted to editor of the FT Weekend magazine. The deputy editor replaces John Lloyd who will become contributing editor and write regularly for the FT newspaper.

Leyla Tabaksert, assistant beauty editor of NatMags' She magazine, is the new beauty editor of Hachette Filipacchi UK's women's glossy B. Tabaksert replaces Delphine Lamande-Frearson, now beauty director of recent launch Psychologies. B editor is Nina Ahmad.

Paul Newman has been made senior editor for Future's Computer Arts magazine. He formerly worked at Highbury House, where he was the managing editor responsible for launching iCreate.

Rachael Ashley, executive editor of Eve magazine, has been promoted to deputy editor. Meanwhile Louisa Wall, acting managing editor at Tatler, is to take up her new post as managing editor on 26 September.

BROADCAST

Peter Horrocks, head of current affairs at BBC News, has been made head of BBC television news. He will oversee output including BBC1 news, Newsnight and News 24. Horrocks reports to BBC director of news Helen Boaden and replaces Roger Mosey, who has been made BBC director of sport.

Sky News Radio has won an exclusive contract to provide news bulletins to Chrysalis, the owner of radio stations Heart, LBC and the Galaxy network.

Chrysalis previously took news content from both Sky and Independent Radio News. Andy Ivy is editor of Sky News Radio, while Jonathan Richard is Chrysalis head of network news.

Vic Reeves is to present a Wednesday and Thursday evening show on Virgin Radio. The comedian's three-hour slot, called Vic Reeves' Big Night In, will run from 7pm, starting 21 September. Programme director is Paul Jackson.

Children's digital radio station Capital Disney is to have a showbusiness gossip page in each issue of teen monthly TV Hits. In return, the magazine will have a monthly showbiz slot on DJ Allan Lake's programme. Hayley Chilver is editorial director of TV Hits.

NEW MEDIA

Sports website Sportal.com has been relaunched as a live online TV channel. It carries sports news as well as coverage of Nationwide Conference football, golf and racing. The site is owned by Leeds-based Teamtalk Media Group. Peter Lewinton oversees editorial content.

IPC SouthBank has launched homesandgardensdirectory.co.uk, with online content including details of interiors and garden retailers, store reviews and a 'bargain finder' function. It is overseen by publishing director Yvonne Ramsden.
