Public Sector: Hurst takes NHS social care role

The recently created NHS Health and Social Care Information Centre (HSCIC) has appointed Clare Hurst as interim head of comms. She was previously head of comms at Inventures, the trading arm of NHS Estates.

The body was launched on 1 April and takes over from the NHS Information Authority as part of a wider restructure of NHS 'arms-length' bodies.

Some Information Authority duties have gone to the NHS's Connecting for Health project, charged with the controversial task of digitising patient records.

Over the past two years the NHS has reviewed arms-length bodies, such as regulatory bodies and the information authority, and created the HSCIC to improve efficiency and ease the supply of information to the public and the rest of the NHS.

Hurst takes over from Caroline Arbon who has taken the post of head of comms at the Arts Council South West.
