City & Corporate: Morgan Stanley appoints Howell

US investment bank Morgan Stanley has poached JP Morgan associate and equity capital markets PR chief Sebastian Howell.

He is to join Morgan Stanley's equity fixed-income and investment banking media relations team in August as an associate.

Howell will report to Eric Portanger, who joined Morgan Stanley last year from The Wall Street Journal Europe (PRWeek, 24 September 2004).

Portanger's hire was part of a restructuring of Morgan Stanley's comms.

The move follows last week's appointment of Jean Phillip Pare as V-P of marketing and communications. Pare replaced Tim Doyne, who has left Morgan Stanley and moved to Bahrain.
