Voluntary Sector: Futurebuilders hires media chief

Futurebuilders has appointed Medical Protection Society comms manager Rhian Williams as its first media relations manager to raise its profile in the voluntary sector.

The government-funded initiative, which invests in voluntary organisations to develop their capacity to deliver public services, wants to boost awareness of the support it offers to charities.

The organisation will highlight how it can help charities to grow, win contracts and earn fees from local authorities, Primary Care Trusts and other public sector bodies.

Williams reports to chief executive Richard Gutch. His post was created to replace the role of public affairs manager, which was scrapped when Gerard Silverstone left in March after only ten months (PRWeek, 25 March).
