Healthcare: Q3 likely for Gov't action, says APBI

The Association of the British Pharmaceutical Industry (ABPI) expects the Government to act on the Health Select Committee's report on 'The Influence of the Pharmaceutical Industry' in the third quarter of 2005.

The response to last month's report is hotly anticipated by healthcare PROs, given MPs' proposed clampdown on marketing activity in the sector (PRWeek, 8 April).

The ABPI, meanwhile, expects to conclude its review of its own code of practice before the year's end.

An ABPI panel, chaired by Lilly UK MD Andrew Hotchkiss, is reviewing submissions from 21 professional bodies, patient advocacy groups, campaign organisations and individuals.
