City & Corporate: BPC&F loses Stan Chart brief

Standard Chartered has parted company with Bell Pottinger Corporate & Financial just seven months after account leader Charlotte Lambkin defected to BAE Systems.

Standard Chartered head of media relations Paul Marriage said the bank would stop working with Bell Pottinger C&F at the end of May.

The move will mean Finsbury will now be Standard Chartered's sole corporate and financial adviser.

Standard Chartered had split its financial PR accounts between the two firms, with Bell Pottinger C&F handling financial calendar work and Finsbury retained for corporate and financial comms around special projects such as Standard Chartered's acquisitions.

Marriage said the bank had decided to 'focus' its financial comms but would continue to use Chime Communications companies for accounts such as Rare Publishing, which produces Standard's annual report.

BAE Systems director of communications Charlotte Lambkin ran Bell Pottinger's Standard Chartered account before joining BAE at the end of last year (PRWeek, 22 October 2004).
