Russell Hobbs in 50th anniversary

Kitchen appliances group Salton has called in Tangerine PR to launch a range of products under its Russell Hobbs brand, using the 50th anniversary of the electric kettle as a news hook.

Russell Hobbs pioneered the automatic electric kettle in 1955 and will promote the range - which may include toasters and water filters as well as kettles - as a 'celebration' of the anniversary.

Tangerine will also work on Salton's George Foreman brand, promoting the health potential of a range of grills to consumers concerned about lowering the fat content of their food.

The move follows the promotion of Salton marketing director Beverley Martin to the newly created post of European marketing director. Salton sales director Tim Wright replaces Martin as marketing director.
