Healthcare: Pierce takes V-P position at APCO

WASHINGTON: US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) chief spokesman Bill Pierce has quit to join APCO Worldwide in a vice-president role.

Pierce was also one of HHS's public affairs advisers, holding the position of deputy assistant secretary for public affairs.

He has spent four years at the forefront of the body's media relations.

Pierce's first responsibilities at APCO will be advising clients on how to work with the US Centers for Medicare and Medicaid - the federal agency within the HHS that administers Medicare.
