Text 100 steals MS&L's Giles as MD

Tech agency Text 100 has poached Manning Selvage & Lee corporate and B2B chief Nick Giles to be UK and Ireland MD and add corporate PR nous.

Giles starts next Monday and reports to EMEA managing director Andrew West who, along with general manager of operations Jane Franklin, has handled the role on an interim basis.

Text hired Cathy Pittham as MD just 18 months ago (PRWeek, 21 May 2003), but health problems have forced Pittham to take a part-time role for the past year.

The appointment of Giles bolsters Text 100's corporate skills, said West, and follows the arrival of Kathleen Fitzgerald as global corporate MD in January.

'There are not many technology PR agencies that address corporate communications well,' said West.

'One of our differentiators will be the ability to talk the language of the boardroom.'

He added that further senior appointments will follow as the agency looks to recover from the tech collapse that halved the size of the agency in four years.

Meanwhile, MS&L has promoted Kate Steele to replace Giles as UK head of its 16-strong corporate group.
