JCB comms boss quits suddenly

JCB, Europe's biggest construction maker, is bereft of a top communicator following the departure of its worldwide comms manager Brian Conway after less then ten months in the post.

Conway, formerly head of external relations at Birmingham International Airport, left the firm on 18 February.

JCB UK PR manager Nigel Chell said Conway left by mutual agreement but refused to discuss the reasons behind the decision. At present, Conway does not have another job to go to.

He is the second consecutive PR chief to leave JCB after less than two years in the job, following Jane Atkinson's decision to leave the post one year earlier (PRWeek, 20 February 2004).
