Lastminute takes PR work in-house

Online leisure brand lastminute.com is axing its three consumer agencies as it prepares to take consumer PR in-house from next month.

Freud Communications, Rooster and Flare Communications will stop working for lastminute at the end of April as part of a restructure of comms under lastminute head of corporate communications Claire Williams.

Freuds was taken on last year to handle consumer PR for the lastminute brand, while Rooster and Flare manage campaigns for the Online Travel Corporation and Exhilaration brands respectively.

Williams, who was PR manager for lastminute's Holiday Autos brand until January, has advertised for three PROs to build up lastminute's communications team.

She said the company would continue to retain The Maitland Consultancy for corporate and financial comms support but would only use agencies on a project basis in other areas.
