NU asks PR firms for creative input

Norwich Union, the UK's largest life assurer, is to bolster its UK agency support as it looks to breathe fresh life into its creative thinking across the general insurance business.

The Aviva-owned firm has already held talks with agencies over a newly created consumer PR brief amid plans to increase its spend on PR firms, NU general insurance media relations manager Liz Kennett confirmed.

NU has used QBO Bell Pottinger and its forerunner The Quentin Bell Organisation to handle consumer PR for 15 years.

But Kennett said the brief up for grabs did not affect QBO's contract, which was not under review. The brief signified 'an extension of our PR', she added.

NU also retains Staniforth Communications for trade PR and Financial Dynamics for corporate and City work. Neither agency's remit is affected.

QBO is believed to be one of four agencies currently in the running for the NU brief.
